Adult Faith Forum
Sunday Morning 9:00am
What’s So Amazing about Grace? Book by Phillip Yancey The author of 6 Gold Medallion award-winning books challenges Christians to become living answers to a world that desperately wants to know, what's so amazing about grace? Philip Yancey gives us a probing and impassioned look at grace: what it looks like - but more importantly, what it doesn't look like. Yancey contends that grace is a concept at the heart of God's plan for salvation, and that it is the responsibility of every Christian to reveal the grace the world is searching for. -Publishers Summary
John and Sue Pazynski will be leading the Sunday Morning Adult Faith Forum through a 4 week study of Yancey’s book. 3/30-4/20

Discusion on Columbia
Some background. . .
Colombia has suffered almost four decades of violent internal conflict, which has been
exacerbated over time by an illicit drug trade.  According to the U.S. Committee on Refugees, “By the end of 2002, conflict, political violence, and human rights violations in Colombia had produced the world’s fourth largest uprooted population.”  According to the U. S. Department of State, in 2002, “A major internal armed conflict between the Government and leftist guerillas, particularly the FARC and the terrorist organization National Liberation Army (ELN) — as well as right wing paramilitaries, particularly the terrorist organization United Self Defense Forces of Colombia (AUC), caused the  eaths of between 5,000 and 6,000 civilians during [that] year, including combat casualties, political killings, and forced disappearances. Serious violations of human
rights are commonplace.”  In the midst of this violence, the Colombian Presbyterian Church speaks out against human rights abuses. It has much to teach us about
being the church in a time of conflict.
Join us this Tuesday April 15th as we prepare for Speakers Dr. Phil and Lorrie Gates April 22, 2008.

Peacemakers to Speak April 22nd
Mark your calendar now to hear peace activists Phil and Lorrie Gates speak of their peacemaking efforts. Phil, a retired school superintendent, and Lorrie, a retired teacher, have for many years served as Volunteers in Mission along the US/Mexico border. More recently, Phil traveled to war-torn Columbia as an accompanier with the Presbyterian Peace Fellowship. Upon his return he was more convinced than ever that disciples of Jesus Christ are called to peacemaking. Now Lorrie also volunteers as an accompanier in Columbia. In April Dr. and Mrs. Gates are coming to southwest Michigan to speak of their peacemaking experiences-- Tuesday, April 22, at Three Rivers-Centreville First at 6 p.m.
